Monday 28 March - An early start from our bush camp in order to get to Aleppo via Krak de Chevaliers. This is the fairy tale medieval castle with its sweeping views of the area, well preserved walls and features and all round sense of history.
A general view of the whole castle.
Part of the main keep of the castle.
The main entranceway.
One of the many towers.
The main outer wall.
Detail of the fortifications.
The outer wall and filled in moat.
A view of the surrounding area.
The left passage is the way into the castle, the right passageway goes to the main gate and ticket booth.
The Turkish house built inside the castle.
We had a superb lunch in the restaurant next to the castle and then drove onto Aleppo where we stayed in a small nondescript hotel in the centre of the city.
