2009 - Brisbane, Australia

A long week end in Brisbane, Australia.

I had never been there so decided to make a long weekend of it. The flights over and back were fine by trans Tasman standards.

I stayed in the YHA on Roma Street. This is handy to the centre of the city and to the railway station.

Day trip to Moreton Island, a large island off the coast. This is one of the world's largest sand islands.

We sand boarded down the sand dunes, raced along the 35km long Eastern Beach, lunched and swam at Honeymoon Bay, climbed to the lighthouse with its great view, more swimming in the Blue Lagoon, and a bumpy ride back to the ferry.

There was a fishing contest happening with just about every kid in Brisbane on the ferry.

I then flew to Sydney for an overnight stay as it was cheaper to do this than fly back from Brisbane. Weird.
In all, a nice sunny weekend away.
