I had finally decided to return to New Zealand after nearly eleven years in the UK. I stopped in Phuket for a week or so on the way home and then took a short side trip to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

Kuala Lumpur (or KL as it normally known) is an interesting city. It is very modern in places, for example the Petronas Towers, and can be very traditional in others. There is lots of old colonial architecture still remaining.

It also has very good food, especially at the food halls and in the streets around Bukit Bintang.
