1996 - New York & San Francisco

My first trip back to NZ.

View 1996 New York, San Francisco on nzhamsta's travel map.

This the first time to New York. I wandered around for a day or so and then took a guided boat trip around the whole of Manhatten Island. There was a very informative trip and quite funny as well. The guide really knew his stuff.

The United Nations building with the Chrysler Building in the background.

The Statue of Liberty.

Pier 17 on the East River.

Central Park.

San Francisco was a stopover on my way back to London and was spent wandering around the various touristy bits of the city. It is a great place and I really enjoyed my few days there. I walked over the Golden Gate Bridge in the fog, not much of a view though, especially looking back towards the city.

The cable car on Powell Street.

The Golden Gate Bridge (looking south back towards the city).

Alcatraz Island, taken from Telegraph Hill.

St Peter and Paul church, with the Coit Tower in the background.
