Yet another of the Easter trips. Not sure why sometimes as in a lot of cities everything is shut, but it is nice to get away somewhere different.
This was the first time I had been back to Berlin since the wall came down. In fact it was quite difficult seeing where the wall actually had been. Lots of construction in the city, especially in the no man's land between the two sides to the city.
The TV tower in what used to be East Berlin.
A church in the suburb of Spandau in Berlin (and everything is closed).
The Spandau Citadel (not to be confused with the prison as that had been demolished in 1987).
I caught a train out to Potsdam. This used to be the seat of the Prussian kings and emperors until 1918. It has some great palaces.
The Nikolaikirche in Potsdam.
The Schloß Sanssouci, a modest royal palace.
The gardens of the Schloß Sanssouci.
I stayed at the YHA which was very centrally located. It was however full of British school kids making a racket, especially at about 2am!
