This was supposed to be a holiday away from various domestic issues, but was not a success.
I stayed in the beach resort of Altinkum. It is nice enough but not much to do, although the Temple of Apollo is within walking distance.
The beach at Altınkum.
The port at Altınkum.
More of the beach.
Temple of Apollo. This is just up the road and is a nice walk. The place was empty when I got there, strange when it is an important archaeological site.
A carpet seller near the Temple of Apollo.
The main part of the temple.
Part of the Temple of Apollo.
More of the temple.
The Medusa's head.
Ephesus. This is one of Turkey's most famous ancient sites. I took a day trip to the city via Selçuk. It is a very interesting place with lots of excavations, crumbly bits, and tourists.
The main road into the city of Ephesus.
The Audion, or meeting place in Ephesus.
The Library of Celcus in Ephesus.
The entrance way to the Library of Celcus.
The main theatre.
An aqueduct near Selçuk.
Kusadasi. This was a night out in Kusadasi with typical Turkish food and dancing.
Dancers.
More dancers.
At this point, I was ill so I arranged with the tour company to get me back to the UK a week early. I then spent the second week at home.
