Saturday 17 October

We decided to go over to Macau for the day and so caught the ferry from Hong Kong across the Pearl River Delta to Macau. The ferry was okay, although couldn't see much through the grubby windows.

The caught a taxi from the ferry port to Senado Square, this being the centre of the old part of the city.

We wandered around the streets (very busy as Saturday appears to be shopping day) and ended up at the ruins of St Paul's Church. This is the iconic sight of Macau.

Up the hill overlooking the ruins and the city of Macau is an old fortress, now housing a decent museum.

From there we caught a taxi out to the Venetian Macau Casino. This is a huge luxury resort modelled on Venice.

We had dinner (quite nice, and it being inside a casino, quite cheap), lots a few HKDs very quickly and caught the stage show out in the main plaza.

The water is a bit too blue for it to be the real Venice (or is that not brown enough?)

From there, back to the ferry port and a bumpy ride back to Hong Kong.
